Christmas Tree Light Timers

Another very early project of ecoPerth was to work with Town to put timers on each of the Christmas light strings on downtown trees. Prior to that, the lights were on 24 hours a day for about 5 months. With the timers, the energy saved by only having the strings on for about 7 hours each day paid for the timers within 6 weeks. This was before the advent of LED Christmas lights, so that is why the savings were that good. Of course, as sometimes happens with technology, LED lights came on the market a couple of years later (with ecoPerth taking an active role in promoting them), and they use so little energy that timers have a much longer payback.
